Sports Psychology Rooted in Intention. Built for Performance. Backed by Experience.

About me

A young man with curly hair and glasses wearing a black polo shirt with the University of Derby logo and Kukri logo.

I’m Jase Harrison—a former professional basketball player and a sports and exercise psychologist in training. During my professional career, I learned firsthand that sport challenges more than just your body—it tests your mindset, your identity, and your resilience.

I bring both lived experience and evidence-based practice to my work—and I’m passionate about helping athletes grow through what they go through.

My Philosophy

I believe that peak performance grows from self-awareness. When athletes understand themselves—what drives them, what holds them back, and how they respond under pressure—they compete with greater focus, emotional control, and confidence. My approach blends person-centered support with tools from cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT). That means we work together to explore your thoughts, emotions, and habits, and then build practical strategies to help you stay focused, adapt under stress, and perform with intention.

I don’t see performance as just stats or outcomes. I see it as how fully an athlete can show up—with resilience and confidence—across the highs and lows of their journey.

Experience & Qualifications

I bring a unique combination of lived experience and professional training to my work.

I’ve played professional basketball for over six years and coached at the youth, university, and pro levels. My role as a Player Development Coach for the London Lions (during their EuroCup campaign) added to my understanding of the elite athlete experience from multiple perspectives.

I’m currently a Sport and Exercise Psychologist in Training, working toward licensure through CASES SEPAR (UK) and AASP CMPC (USA). My applied experience spans a wide range of clients— academy, national-level competitors, and professional athletes —across organizations like Team Derby, Talented Athlete Scholarship Scheme (TASS), TheSecreTrainer, Derby Trailblazers (EABL), and individual clients.

I hold an MSc in Sport Psychology from the University of East London and a BA in Psychology from Whitman College (USA). I’ve also interned with renowned mental performance coach Graham Betchart and have delivered athlete-focused workshops and mental skills programs through TheSecretTrainer and other organizations.
